Cargo handling volume via Kazakhstan's major seaports revealed

Total volume of cargo handled in Kazakhstan’s ports amounted to 4.8 million tons in 2019, which indicates a slight decrease compared to 5.1 million tons in 2018, Trend reports with reference to the Kazakhstan’s Statistics Committee.

The largest volume of handled cargo accounts for Aktau port: 3.5 million tons (3.55 million in 2018). In turn, 1.3 million tons (1.6 million tons) account for Kuryk port, whereas remaining 5,800 tons account for Bautino port (1,000 tons in 2018).

Of the total volume handled, 3.5 million tons were sent for export, 1.07 million tons were imported, whereas 275,100 tons were transported in transit.

Furthermore, of the total volume of cargo handled some 2.1 million tons of cargo account for liquid cargo, whereas the remaining volume accounts for dry cargo.

Of the total volume of dry cargo handled 1.3 million tons account for ferry cargo, 581,000 tons for general cargo, whereas remaining 794,700 tons account for bulk cargo.

Cargo delivered to sea ports to be transported by sea amounted to 3.6 million tons, including 2.1 million tons by pipelines, 1.4 million by railways and 67,100 tons by road transport.

Currently there are three operating seaports in Kazakhstan: Aktau, Bautino and Kuryk.

Nowadays Aktau International Commercial Sea Port is a modern multi-purpose terminal that allows the transportation of goods from East to West, from North to South and back 12 months a year and 24 hours a day.

Bautino сargo district is a division Aktau International Commercial Sea Port, and is located in the village of Bautino (150 km from the city of Aktau), in the waters of the Bautino Bay of Tyubkaragansky Gulf.

Kuryk Port is located on the coast of the Caspian Sea, south of Aktau city. The port has direct access to the railway. The ferry complex of the port is designed for transshipment of goods, including grain, petroleum products, fertilizers and chemicals.
