By Tamilla Mammadova - Trend:

The number of cargo handled at international airports in Georgia amounted to 4,000 tons from January through March 2020, which is 26.4 percent less than in the same period in 2019, Trend reports via the annual report of Georgian parliament.

"As for passenger services at Georgian airports, from January through March 2020, Georgian airports served 700,000 passengers, which is 30.1 percent less compared to the same period last year,” the report said.

Despite the restrictions introduced, Georgia did not stop regular and charter cargo flights, as well as charter passenger flights, ensuring the return of Georgian citizens to their homeland, and foreign citizens to their countries.

As reported, the Georgian government has developed a safe transport corridor protocol that has been made available to all neighboring countries and partner countries.

"Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the civil aviation industry of Georgia, like in other countries, faced an unprecedented challenge," the report said.
