Uzbekistan plans to get discounts on rail freight along the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan multimodal transport corridor, Trend reports with reference to Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan.
China Railway Express opened a new international transport corridor to Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan, on June 5, 2020.
Cargo from China's seaports and provinces will be transported by rail to Kashgar, which is a major transportation hub. Here, cargo flows are consolidated, as well as their transfer from rail to road for further transportation.
"In order to increase the efficiency of the transport corridor, together with Chinese partners, the issues of providing discounts for cargo transportation within the Chinese corridor and synchronization of rail container transportation with road transportation, are being worked out," the message said.
The length of this transport corridor is 295 kilometers shorter than alternative routes, which reduces the time goods delivery, and makes the new route attractive and competitive for international trade.
