Uzbekistan Railways launches two new metro stations in the capital

The construction of Yunusabad and Turkiston metro stations of Yunusabad line of Tashkent Metro has been completed, Trend reports citing Uzbekistan Railways.

The length of the subway tunnels is 2.9 kilometers each. The new stations were connected to Shahristan station, and trains have already passed tests, the report says.

The total cost of the construction of Yunusabad and Turkiston metro stations is $103.8 million.

"Yunusabad district is one of the most densely populated areas in. In August 2001, the first phase of Yunusabad subway line, consisting of six stations with a length of 7.6 kilometers, was launched in the district," the message said.

In the future, a subway line is planned to link Tashkent, the capital, and Nurafshan city, the center of Tashkent region.

Earlier, Uzbekistan Railways announced plans to purchase 10 new trains of Russia's Metrowagonmash production. The total purchase is over 27 million euros. Of these, 22 million euros will be allocated as a loan from Russia's the State Corporation Bank for Development and Foreign Economic Affairs (Vnesheconombank), and 5.5 million euros - from the Fund for Reconstruction and Development of Uzbekistan.

Currently, Tashkent Metro consists of three lines, operating on 36.2 kilometers of routes and serving 29 stations.
