TEHRAN, Iran, June 23
Trend:
Iran's plan to inaugurate the construction of the Astarachay bridge has been delayed due to land ownership issues, head of public relations in Astara Governance Milad Akbari told Trend.
"There are some lands that need to be purchased for implementation of the project and the process has not been completed yet," he said.
"The Construction and Development of Transportation Infrastructure Company in Gilan Province and Astara Governorate are currently purchasing lands that are located near the Astarchay bridge area," he said.
"The precise schedule for inauguration of the bridge is to be announced soon. The inauguration of Astarchay bridge has been delayed twice. First it was in May and then in June but due to the mentioned issue the project is not at the inauguration stage," he added.
"The lands near the project's location are private property and owners should be fully satisfied to sell, however it has taken longer than originally thought," he said.
Governor of Astara, Hassan Rostamzad has previously told Trend that the construction of third international bridge over the Astarchar river would start by June 20.
The bridge envisages to provide a route for trucks to transit goods between the two countries.
