Kazakhstan starts exporting locomotives to Moldova

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Jul. 3

By Nargiz Sadikhova - Trend:

Kazakhstan’s Lokomotiv Kurastyru Zauyty JSC (LKZ) has manufactured and exported 12 locomotives to Moldova, Trend reports with reference to Kazakhstan Railways.

A corresponding agreement between GE Transportation and Wabtec Company (US) and LKZ for the supply of 12 locomotives of Evolution series was signed in 2019 in Nur-Sultan city.

“The diesel locomotive was designed taking into account the technical requirements developed by the specialists of Kazakhstan Railways. The requirements reflected in the technical specifications made it possible to produce a locomotive that meets the needs of the railway companies,” the report said.

This agreement on the export of locally-made locomotives is the result of many years of joint work of LKZ with Kazakhstan Railways on the program for updating locomotive traction, said the company.

The Kazakhstan locomotives of the Evolution series are successfully operated on in Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Ukraine, Turkmenistan, and now also in Moldova.
