The volume of cargo transportation in the transport corridor of Georgia has increased, Trend reports via the Georgia's Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development.
The total volume of goods transported across the country in January through June amounted to 18.7 million tons, which is 2.7 percent more than in 2019.
In the first half of 2020, the cargo turnover of the largest port of Georgia, the port of Poti, amounted to 4 million tons, this figure has not changed compared to the previous year.
The cargo turnover of other ports has been increased:
Poti port - 4 million tons, change 0 percent;
Kulevi terminal - 0.9 million tons, an increase of 28 percent;
Batumi sea port - 1.7 million tons, an increase of 6.2 percent;
Supsa Marine Terminal - 2.1 million tons, an increase of 16.6 percent.
As for the Georgian Railway, the total volume of goods transported on it is 5.5 million tons, which is 7.8 percent more than in 2019.
Despite the growth in the turnover of the Georgian Railway, in the first half of 2020, the company still suffered significant losses.
