Uzbekistan supports the projects initiated by Turkmenistan aimed at uniting the transport systems of Asia and Europe, the Middle and the Far East, which are designed to increase international transit cargo flows, promote sustainable development, the social and economic prosperity of the countries of Central Asia and neighboring regions, Trend reports with reference to Turkmenistan’s State News Agency.
This was stated during the meeting of the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov.
The parties stressed the importance of implementing joint infrastructure projects in the transport and communication sector, and, above all, on the formation of a new transit corridor.
In general, the meeting discussed the possibilities of expanding the bilateral economic and investment partnership, the main aspect of which is joint activities in the gas, electric power, transport and communication industries, trade, agriculture, and other areas.
The parties also confirmed their interest in diversifying the mutually beneficial partnership.
It was noted that the countries successfully cooperate on a bilateral and multilateral basis. In particular, they confirmed their desire to strengthen cooperation within international structures, including the UN, the CIS, the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea, and others, in the name of ensuring peace, stability, and progress.
Earlier, the Program of Cooperation between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan for the period of 2021-2022 was signed.
As reported, the Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov is paying a working visit to Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, and Tajikistan.
In general, the working visit to all the above-mentioned countries will take place from 16 through 18 February 2021.
