Kazakhstan boosts cargo transportation via railways

Kazakhstan’s revenue from the transportation of cargo, luggage, and cargo luggage via railway transportation amounted to 81.8 billion tenge ($195.8 million) in January 2021, which is 12.6 percent more than during the same period of 2020, Trend reports with reference to Kazakhstan’s Statistics Committee.

The volume of cargo, luggage, and cargo luggage transported via railway during the reporting period amounted to 33.7 million tons, climbing 6.6 percent compared to the same period of last year (31.6 million tons in Jan. 2020).

Cargo turnover amounted to 23.1 billion ton-kilometers rising by 2.8 percent in comparison to last year (22.5 billion in Jan. 2020).

In turn, Kazakhstan’s revenue from passenger transportation amounted to 3.5 billion tenge ($8.4 million) in January 2021, which is a 58.7 percent slump in comparison to last year.

The number of transported passengers amounted to 1.06 million people, which is a 44.3 percent decline compared to the same period of last year (1.9 million passengers in Jan. 2020).

The passenger turnover amounted to 772.4 million passenger-kilometers (pkm) which compared to the same period of last year is a decrease of 46.7 percent.
