The Iranian government is expected to operate a mega highway on Thursday that is an important part of the transit corridor across the country.
Ghadir expressway is fully designed and operated by Rouhani 's government for seven and a half years that is part of the country's east to west and north to south corridor and part of Asia transportation corridor, Trend reports citing IRNA.
The expressway would accelerate transportation from northwestern and western provinces by passing through Tehran toward the southeast and northeast of the country.
The route is aimed to reduce gasoline consumption, traveling time and improve safety and prevent accidents.
The construction of the highway started in 2016 and that was previously known as the Tehran-Alburz highway. The route is 158 kilometers starting from Abyek in Qazvin to the city of Garmsar in the southeast of Tehran. Ghadir expressway would connect to five other highways on its route that is unique.
The Iranian government has constructed 440 kilometers highway during the past seven and a half years that included Tehran-North highway, Tabriz –Urmia highway, Hemmat- Karaj, Saveh – Hamedan, Qazvin- Rasht, and Qom- Garmsar highway as part of Shrine to Shrine highway connecting Mashad to Qom.
The government seeks to increase the lengths of highways in the country by adding 3,000 kilometers and would plan to inaugurate seven highway projects by the end of spring in the new Iranian year (starts March 21, 2021).
It is expected that highway projects with 85 percent progress in construction would be inaugurated in the next five months.
