Passenger cars manufacturing surges in Kazakhstan

Kazakhstan’s local manufacturers have produced 7,052 vehicles worth 50.4 billion tenge ($120.3 million) in February 2021, Trend reports citing Association of Kazakhstan’s Automobile Business.

The Association’s data said that overall manufacturing of vehicles in Kazakhstan was 13,033 units worth 93.4 billion tenge ($223.1 million) from Jan. through Feb. 2021.

This includes 11,573 passenger cars (increase by 3.9 percent), 1,025 trucks (down by 6 percent), 282 buses (increase by 38.2 percent), 134 trailer and semi-trailers, and 19 specialized vehicles.

The share of vehicles manufacturing in overall mechanical engineering output continues to vary from 34 to 40 percent.

During the reporting period of 2021, SaryarkaAutoProm plant manufactured 8,208 vehicles (increase by 21.4 percent) worth 44.8 billion tenge ($107.01 million).

Hyundai Trans Kazakhstan manufactured 3,826 passenger cars for a total of 32.3 billion tenge ($77.1 million), SemAZ manufactured 560 commercial vehicles (up by 9 percent) for 5.3 billion tenge ($12.6 million).

Kazakhstan has also exported 645 JAC and Chevrolet cars to neighboring countries for a total of 2.9 billion tenge ($6.9 million) over two months of 2021, which is 27 percent more than last year.

A total of 6,475 Chevrolet cars, 3,875 Hyundai sedans and crossovers, 1,244 JAC cars, 560 GAZ commercial vehicles were produced in Kazakhstan during the reporting period. Kia production was also launched in Kostanay and some 190 cars were manufactured already.
