There are currently 5 railway lines are being built in Iran, which will be launched by the end of the current Iranian government (August 2021), Trend reports citing the the ministry.
According to the report, a total of 649 km will be added to Iran's railway network with the launch of these railways.
One of the railway lines to be launched in Iran is the Yazd-Eqlid railway line. The length of this railway line is 270 kilometers. The railway will carry 4 million tons of cargo and 1 million passengers a year. The improvement of the North-South and East-West corridors will result in a 310 km reduction in the railway line. There is currently 86 percent progress on the construction of this railway line and it will be launched in the 3rd month of the current Iranian (May 22 through June 21, 2021) with attraction of more 4 trillion rials (about $95.2 million).
The another railway line to be launched in Iran is Bostanabad-Tabriz railway line. The length of this railway is 44 kilometers. The railway will carry 1 million passengers and 2 million tons of cargo a year. This railway will greatly facilitate the transit, passenger transportation and production process within the East-West corridor. There is currently 74 percent progress on the construction of this railway line, which is planned to be launched in the third month with attraction of more 3 trillion rials (about $71.4 million).
Also, the length of Iran's Zahedan-Khash railway line is 150 kilometers. The railway will carry 927,000 passengers and 2.8 million tons of cargo a year. Given a number of construction materials are produced in the region, the launch of this railway line is considered one of the important plans. At present, there is 70 percent physical progress on the construction of this railway line. This railway line is also planned to be launched in the 3rd month.
The length of the Hamadan-Sanandaj railway line is 150 kilometers. About 2.9 million tons of cargo will be transported annually with the launch of this railway line. At the same time, Iran's Kurdistan Province will be connected to the Iran’s railway network through this railway line. There is currently 67 percent physical progress on the construction of railway line and it will be launched in the 4th month of the current Iranian year (June 22 through July 22, 2021) with attraction of more 7.5 trillion rials (about $178 million).
The length of Iran's Rasht-Caspian railway line is 35 kilometers. A total of 5 million tons of cargo and 1.4 million passengers will be transported annually with the launch of this railway line. The railway will connect the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman to the Caspian Sea within the North-South Corridor, and will facilitate the process of transporting cargo and passengers from neighboring northern countries. Currently, there is 55 percent physical progress on the construction of this railway line, which will be launched by the end of the current government with attraction of more 2.8 trillion rials (about $66.6 million).
