Uzbekistan, Tajikistan consider building Samarkand - Penjikent railway line

Uzbekistan and Tajikistan discussed the issue of building a railway line, which will connect the Tajik city of Penjikent with the Samarkand region of Uzbekistan, Trend reports referring to the Ministry of Transport of Tajikistan.

It is reported that the project on laying the railway section Penjikent - Bulungur station / Jambay station / Factory station was discussed at the meeting of the Deputy Minister of Transport of Tajikistan Shoista Saidmurodzoda with the Deputy Minister of Transport of Uzbekistan Abdusamat Muminov.

Also, the meeting discussed a draft agreement between the governments of the two countries on the transit of dangerous goods through the territory of Uzbekistan.

In addition, the parties considered the possibility of restoring air communication between the two countries in compliance with anti-epidemiological requirements, as well as the restoration of cargo transportation through the Bekabad-Istiklol-Bekabad railway section and road cargo transportation through the Patar-Andarkhon checkpoint.
