The volume of cargo loaded and unloaded in the Khorramshahr port of the Khuzestan Province (south-western Iran) increased by 60 percent during the first three months of the current Iranian year (from March 21 through June 21, 2021), compared to the same period last Iranian year, Head of Khorramshahr Ports and Maritime Department, Nourollah Asadi said, Trend reports referring to the Iranian Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO).
Asadi said that about 614,000 tons of cargo were loaded and unloaded in the Khorramshahr port within the mentioned period.
He added that more than 187 ships with a cargo of fewer than 1,000 tons were docked at the port in the three months.
The official noted that the loading and unloading of container products in the port over the first 3 months of the current Iranian year also increased by 10 percent, compared to the same period last year.
As reported, Iran’s Khorramshahr port covers an area of 230 hectares. There are 20 platforms in this port. The port operates in the field of trade with Iran's countries around the Persian Gulf. The port has the capacity to load-unloaded 3.5 million tons of cargo annually.
