The cargo transportation by road in Azerbaijan had decreased from January through July 2021, Trend reports citing a report of the State Statistical Committee.
According to the committee, this indicator amounted to 61.4 million tons of cargo (56.8 percent of the total freight traffic), which is a decline of 6.1 percent on annual basis.
In the private sector, cargo transportation by road decreased by 3.9 percent. The private sector in the specified period accounted for 77.7 percent of all cargo transportation by road.
In the first seven months of 2021, the passenger traffic by road amounted to 628.5 million people, which is 10.2 percent less than in the same period of last year. Meanwhile, buses transported 91.3 percent of passengers, metro – 3.1 percent (20.1 million passengers), taxis and other private carriers – 5.6 percent.
During this period, cargo transportation by all modes of transport in Azerbaijan amounted to 107.9 million tons, which is a decline of three percent year on year, and passenger traffic – 650.4 million people, down 15.2 percent compared to the same period of 2020. Air transport accounted for 0.3 percent of all cargo transportation.
