Kazakhstan sees slowdown in brand-new car sales

Sales of brand-new cars in Kazakhstan dropped by 5.4 percent in August 2021, compared to August 2020, amounting to 9.093 units, Trend reports citing the Association of Kazakhstan AutoBusiness (AKAB).

As reported, of the total number, 8,734 accounted for cars and light commercial vehicles and 359 - for trucks and buses.

In annual terms, the production reached 76,039 units, which is a growth of 42.5 percent on annual basis, including 73,367 cars and light commercial vehicles and 2,672 trucks and buses.

The situation in the delivery of cars and components is critical, while the demand for cars is growing. Dealers and manufacturers are still awaiting solutions for the delivery of parts and vehicles going through China. The queue for the shipment of goods stretched for several months in advance. In addition, the shortage of electronic components in the world market every month increases the gap between supply and demand.

Chevrolet had continued to lead the ten brands in August - 2,196 cars, Hyundai ranked second with 1,561 cars, Toyota had returned to the third position - 1,012 cars.

Kia dealers sold 825 vehicles in August. Lada closed the five best-selling brands with 716 vehicles. Volkswagen continues to remain at the sixth position (356 vehicles), with Nissan coming in 7th (331 vehicles). The next car brands on the list are JAC (328 vehicles), Renault (308 vehicles) and BMW (114 vehicles).

TOP-10 of the most popular models in August 2021: Chevrolet Cobalt - (1,330 vehicles), Chevrolet Nexia - (542 vehicles) and Hyundai Accent - (499 vehicles). Further on the list: Toyota Camry (437 vehicles), Hyundai Elantra (326 vehicles), Lada Largus (282 vehicles), Hyundai Sonata (255 vehicles), Hyundai Tucson (243 vehicles), Kia Rio (243 vehicles), Toyota Rav4 (213 vehicles).
