Kazakhstan boosts cargo transportation volume by all means of transport

A total of 363.01 million tons of cargo was transported in Kazakhstan by all means of transport in September 2021, which is 1.3 percent more than in September 2020, Trend reports with reference to Kazakhstan’s Statistics Committee.

In turn, the volume of cargo transported over the first nine months of 2021 amounted to 2.7 billion tons, which is 2.2 percent less year-on-year compared to 2.8 billion tons over the same period of last year.

Thus, the majority of the cargo was transported in Kazakhstan’s Karaganda region. The volume of cargo transported in the region amounted to 66.6 million tons in September and 513.1 million tons over the reporting period of 2021, which is 0.6 percent more and 3.4 percent less than during the same period last year, respectively.

Karaganda region is followed by the East Kazakhstan region with 55.4 million tons transported in September 2021 (down by 9.9 percent compared to September 2020). The volume of cargo transported in the region during the reporting period amounted to 435.4 million tons, which compared to 464.9 million during the same period last year, indicates a 6.3-percent decrease.

Kostanay region takes third place country-wide by the cargo transported in September 2021 (31.9 million tons, up by 2.7 percent). The volume of cargo transported in the city over nine months of 2021 amounted to 214.1 million tons, which is 3.6 percent less than during the same period last year (222.2 million tons).

The least cargo volume was transported in the West Kazakhstan region. The transported cargo volume stood at 5.7 million tons of cargo in September 2021, which is 12.1 percent more than in September 2020. The volume of cargo transported from January through September 2021 was 39.9 million tons, which is 13.1 percent less year on year.
