Iran shares data on cargo movements in western ports of Hormozgan Province

About 6.13 million tons of cargo were loaded and unloaded loaded and unloaded in the western ports (including, Chark, Aftab, Bandar Lengeh ports, and so on) of the Hormozgan Province (southern Iran), during the first seven months of the current Iranian year (from March 21 through October 22, 2021), Director of Ports and Maritime Office of Bandar Lengeh port Ghasem Askari Nasab said, Trend reports citing Ministry of Roads and Urban Development of Iran.

According to Askari Nasab, this is an increase of 130 percent, compared to the same period last Iranian year.

The director added that 4.12 million tons of crude oil and related products were loaded and unloaded in the western ports of the Hormozgan Province over 7 months, which is an increase of 208 percent, compared to the same period last Iranian year.

“Furthermore, 2.01 million tons of non-oil products were loaded and unloaded in the western ports within the mentioned period, which is an increase of 51 percent, compared to the same period last Iranian year,” he said.

Askari Nasab also noted that a total of 3.8 million tons of oil and non-oil products were exported through the mentioned ports in 7 months. Exports increased by 287 percent, compared to the same period last Iranian year.

“So, 1.04 million tons of non-oil products were exported during the reporting period, which is 68 percent more than in the same period last Iranian year,” the director said.

Askari Nasab emphasized that along with non-oil exports, the export of crude oil and oil products through the western ports of Hormozgan Province in seven months, increased by 664 percent, compared to the same period last Iranian year. Thus, 2.75 million tons of crude oil and oil products were exported in the first 7 months of the current Iranian year.

According to him, about 15,000 ships docked in these ports for the reporting period, which is 50 percent, more than in the same period last Iranian year.

“Moreover, about 182,000 tons of products were transited through the western ports of the province during seven months, which is an increase of 90 percent, compared to the same period last Iranian year,” the official added.

The director stressed that the number of TEU containers loaded and unloaded in the mentioned ports over 7 months, increased by 388 percent, compared to the same period last Iranian year. Thus, 44,500 TEU containers were loaded and unloaded in this period.
