Azerbaijan’s cargo transportation up in 10M2021

Almost 157 million tons of cargo were transported by all types of transport in Azerbaijan from January through October 2021, which is by 0.9 percent more than in the same period of last year, Trend reports citing the Azerbaijani State Statistics Committee.

According to the committee, 57.4 percent of all cargo was transported through vehicles, 31.6 percent - through pipelines, 7.8 percent – through trains, 2.9 percent – through ships, 0.3 percent – through planes.

The cargo transportation by the private companies decreased by 0.7 percent from January through October 2021 which is 78.1 percent of all cargo transportation compared to the period from January through October 2020.

Some 959.7 million people were transported by all types of transport in Azerbaijan from January through October 2021, which is by 5.9 percent less than in the same period of last year. Most of passengers (93.9 percent) were transported through vehicles, 5.8 percent - through subway, 0.3 percent - through other means of transport.

Some 12.3 million tons of cargo were transported through trains from January through October 2021 (increase of 14.8 percent on an annualized basis), as well as 2.09 million passengers were transported, which is by 1.8 percent more than a year earlier.

Almost 4.5 million tons of cargo were transported through ships from January through October 2021, which is by 9.2 percent less than in the same period of last year. The share of oil in the total transportation of goods amounted to 34.7 percent.

The volume of cargo transshipped by the Azerbaijani ports exceeded 7.3 million tons from January through October 2021, of which 95.7 percent or 7.01 million tons accounted for transit cargo. As of Nov. 1, the volume of the remaining cargo in the ports reached 193,700 tons.

Moreover, 90.2 million tons of cargo were transported through vehicles from January through October 2021, which is by 1.9 percent less than in the same period of 2020. Some 901 million people were transported by this type of transport (decrease by 4.5 percent).

Some 903,300 passengers were transported through planes from January through October 2021, which is by 68.1 percent more than in the same period of last year. Cargo transportation by air for 10M2021 increased by 14.5 percent, reaching 410,600 tons.
