Number of trucks crossing through Iran's Jolfa border checkpoint up

The number of trucks crossing through the Jolfa border checkpoint in the East Azerbaijan Province (north-western Iran) increased by 20 percent, during the first nine months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through December 21, 2021), compared to the same period last Iranian year, Director General of East-Azerbaijan Road Maintenance and Transportation Organization Orujali Alizadeh said, Trend reports citing Iranian Ministry of Roads and Urban Development.

The director general said that a total of 50,700 trucks crossed the Jolfa border checkpoint in 9 months.

Alizadeh added that 474,000 tons of goods were exported and imported through the Jolfa border checkpoint over nine months.

“Also, 347,000 tons of goods were transited through the checkpoint during the reporting period,” he noted.

The director general also pointed out that 42,212 people crossed the Jolfa border checkpoint within 9 months.

The Jolfa border checkpoint is located on the border with Iran and Azerbaijan’s Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.
