The import-export process at the Astara border checkpoint on Iran's border with Azerbaijan continues rapidly, Director General of the Transit and International Affairs Department of Iran Road Maintenance and Transportation Organization (RMTO) Javad Hedayati told Mehr New Agency, Trend reports.
The director-general said that currently, 200 trucks leave Iran daily via the Astara border checkpoint, while 200 trucks enter the country.
Hedayati also added that long queues of trucks are no longer observed at the Astara border checkpoint. Because strict measures in connection with the inspection of agricultural products at Russia's border checkpoints with Azerbaijan have been reduced.
“In previous years, the cost of transporting Iranian products to Russia amounted to over $7,000. Meanwhile, in the current Iranian year year (March 21, 2021 through March 20, 2022), the figure stood at $3,000,” he said.
