Iran has the potential to increase the transit of goods with neighboring countries, including Azerbaijan, Turkey, Russia, the UAE, Pakistan, Afghanistan and Uzbekistan, Director General of Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA) Alireza Moghaddasi said, Trend reports citing the administration.
The director general said that Iran is one of the countries in the North-South and East-West transport corridors.
"In addition, Iran's eTIR project with Turkey and Azerbaijan, transit agreement among Iran, Azerbaijan and Russia, as well as, Iran-the UAE-Turkey transit route, Iran-Pakistan-Turkey route, Iran-Afghanistan-Uzbekistan route are among the factors contributing to the increase in transit of goods," he said.
According to Moghaddasi, the mentioned corridors and routes are beneficial to the transit in terms of both time and cost. Therefore, all Iranian bodies should help increase transit.
