The number of passenger planes received by Bandar Abbas International Airport in the Hormozgan Province (southern Iran) increased by 20 percent, during the first nine months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through December 21, 2021), compared to the same period last Iranian year, as was reflected in the statistics of Iran Airports and Air Navigation Company (IAC), Trend reports.
According to the statistics, a total of 9,652 passenger planes were taken off and landed at the Bandar Abbas International Airport in 9 months. Meanwhile, in the same period last Iranian year, the figure stood at 7,991.
“Within 9 months, 735,098 passengers were transported through the airport, which is an increase of 10 percent, compared to the same period last Iranian year. Passenger transportation via the airport for the same period last Iranian year amounted to 670,694,” the statistics said.
Furthermore, 7,479 tons of cargo were transported through Bandar Abbas International Airport over the mentioned period. Cargo transportation increased by 16 percent, compared to the same period last Iranian year. Thus, 6,438 tons of cargo had been transported via the airport in the same period last Iranian year.
Iran’s Bandar Abbas International Airport is located on an area of 4,480 hectares.
