BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 12. National Company (NC) Kazakhstan Temir Zholy JSC and Azerbaijan Railways CJSC have signed an agreement on cooperation in logistics and implementation of joint projects, Trend reports referring to the Kazakh JSC.

The document was signed following the meeting between Chair of NC Kazakhstan Temir Zholy JSC Nurlan Sauranbayev and Chairman of Azerbaijan Railways CJSCJavid Gurbanov.

The sides discussed issues of further development of multimodal transportation along the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR), as well as outlined the need to enhance work on increasing throughput and reducing transit time along the route.

Cargo turnover through TITR in 2021 amounted to 586,200 tons whilst container traffic reached 25,270 TEU.

Some 266,300 tons of freight were transported along the route from January through March 2022, up by 123 percent compared the same period in 2021. Container traffic totaled 5,847 TEU, which was 19 percent more than in the same period of 2021.
