BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 24. A total of 573.3 million passengers were transported in Kazakhstan by all means of transport in March 2022, which is 23.7 percent more than in March 2021, Trend reports with reference to Kazakhstan’s Statistics Committee.
In turn, the volume of passengers transported over the period from January through March 2022 amounted to 1.5 billion people, which is 24.2 percent more year-on-year compared to 1.2 billion over last year.
Thus, the majority of the passengers were transported to Kazakhstan’s Almaty city. The number of passengers transported in the city amounted to 155.5 million people in March and 420.5 million people over the reporting period of 2022, which is 25.3 percent more and 19.3 percent more than during the same period last year, respectively.
Almaty city is followed by the Kostanay region with 52.2 million people transported in March 2022 (an increase of 23.8 percent compared to March 2021). The number of passengers transported in the region during the reporting period amounted to 144.3 million people, which compared to 112.7 million during the same period last year, indicates a 28-percent decrease.
East Kazakhstan region takes third place country-wide by the passengers transported in March 2022 (51.9 million people, up by 25.3 percent). The number of passengers transported in the region over the period from January through March 2022 amounted to 143.07 million, which is 29.1 percent more than during the same period last year (11.8 million people).
The least passenger volume was recorded in the Mangystau region. The transported passenger volume stood at 2.8 million in March 2022, which is 30.1 percent more than in March 2021.
The volume of passengers transported over three months of 2022 was 7.9 million, which is 38.2 percent more year-on-year.
