Iran agrees to reduce transportation tariffs for TRACECA

TEHRAN, Iran, June 15. Iran`s Minister of Roads and Urban Development Rostam Ghasemi announced that an agreement has been reached to reduce transportation tariffs among the TRACECA member countries, Trend reports citing Mehr.

Ghasemi made the remark in a meeting with the TRACECA Secretary General Asset Assavbayev.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran, as a member of TRACECA, has its own characteristics in the North-South and East-West corridors, as well as in the maritime sector in Caspian sea and the southern waters,” said Ghasemi.

He went on to say that Iran has no limitation for maintaining cooperation on land or water.

Assavbayev emphasized the importance of connection between the north and south of Iran and taking advantage of this transit route for the member states.

He expressed hope for finalizing agreements between Iran and Kazakhstan on transportation of goods through this transit route.

“Kazakh companies have been consulted on the transportation of goods through this transit route," he said.

The official stressed the need to resolve the visa issues for truck drivers on the North-South Corridor.
