Number of trucks crossing via Iran's Poldasht border terminal increases

BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 22. The number of trucks crossing through Iran’s Poldasht border terminal in West Azerbaijan Province increased by 363 percent, during the first four months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through July 22, 2022), compared to the same period last Iranian year, the head of Poldasht border terminal Mohammad Reza Darbandi said, Trend reports citing Iranian Ministry of Roads and Urban Development.

According to him, a total of 14,010 trucks crossed through the mentioned border terminal in 4 months. Of these, 12,041 trucks used the border terminal for export, while 1,969 trucks - for import purposes.

Darbandi also added that 8,327 people crossed through Poldasht border terminal within 4 months.

“Meanwhile, in the same period last Iranian year, the crossing of citizens through this border terminal was almost zero due to the coronavirus pandemic,” the official said.

The Poldasht border terminal is located at the Poldasht-Shahtakhti border checkpoint between Iran and the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic of Azerbaijan.
