BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 12. The first terminal for the export of mining minerals from Iran’s Bushehr Province in the south of the country is currently being built in the province, said Mohammad Shakibinasab, Director General of the Ports and Maritime Department of Bushehr Province, Trend reports citing ISNA.
The director general stressed that the mentioned terminal is expected to be put into use early next Iranian year (March 21, 2023 through March 19, 2024).
Shakibinasab added that the length of the terminal is 120 meters and the width is 20 meters. The ships with a capacity of 35,000 tons will be able to dock at this terminal.
“At present, mining minerals are exported through temporary terminals in the Bushehr Province. With the launch of the mentioned terminal, it will be possible to export 1.8 million tons of minerals per year from Bushehr port,” he said.
The director general also pointed out that a total of 1.6 million tons of mining minerals, including, cement, gypsum, etc. were exported from Bushehr port during the past year. The mentioned minerals were mainly exported to Kuwait, the UAE, Qatar, India and several African countries.
