BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 28. The volume of cargo loaded and unloaded at Iranian ports decreased by 0.02 percent from the beginning of the current Iranian year (March 21, 2022), to February 28, 2023, compared to the same period last Iranian year, Trend reports via today's report of the Iranian Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO).
In total, 140,920,000 tons of cargo were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports during the reporting period, while the figure stood at 140,960,000 tons in the same period last Iranian year.
About 48.9 million tons of crude oil and related products were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports within the mentioned period. This is an increase of 1 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year (about 48.5 million tons).
The volume of twenty-foot equivalent unit (TEU) container shipments amounted to 2.24 million tons. This is an increase of 10 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year (2.03 million tons).
The volume of other container shipments was over 24 million tons, which is an increase of 1.2 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year (about 23.8 million tons).
The general cargo volume stood at 21.3 million tons showing a 5-percent increase compared to the same period of the last Iranian year (20.3 million tons).
Dry bulk cargo volume reached 43.2 million tons. This is a decrease of 3.4 percent compared to the same period of the last Iranian year (44.8 million tons).
The liquid bulk cargo was 3.4 million tons. This is 7.5 percent less than in the same period of the last Iranian year (3.67 million tons).
The cargo was loaded and unloaded at Iranian ports in Abadan, Arvandkenar, Astara, Imam Khomeini, Amirabad, Anzali, Bushehr, Tiab, Jask, Chabahar, Charak, Chavibdeh, Khorramshahr, Dayyer, Shahid Bahonar, Shahid Rajaee, Shahid Haqqani, Fereidoonkenar, Qeshm, Genaveh, Bandar Lengeh, and Noshahr.
