BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 16. The volume of cargo loaded and unloaded at Iranian ports increased by 1.7 percent, over the last Iranian year (March 21, 2022 through March 20, 2023), compared to the preceding year (March 21, 2021 through March 20, 2022), Trend reports via the statistics of Iranian Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO).
Overall, approximately 152 million tons of cargo were loaded and unloaded at Iranian ports in the last Iranian year. Of the mentioned volume, about 80 million tons were loaded and 71.7 million tons were unloaded.
“Approximately 52.8 million tons of crude oil and oil products were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports for the last year, which is an increase of 3.7 percent compared to the preceding Iranian year. So, about 28.3 million tons of crude oil and oil products were loaded and about 24.5 million tons were unloaded. The loaded oil products decreased by 3.4 percent, while unloaded products increased by 13.4 percent compared to the preceding year,” the statistics said.
In addition, about 24.2 million tons of essential products were loaded and unloaded at Iranian ports within the mentioned period, which is a decrease of 15.4 percent compared to the preceding year. Of that, 2.21 million tons were loaded and 22 million tons were unloaded.
According to the statistics, about 9.07 million tons of metal products were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports over the last Iranian year, which is a decrease of 8.1 percent compared to the preceding year. Of this, approximately 8.43 million tons were loaded and 636,000 tons were unloaded.
“At the same time, 25 million tons of construction and mining materials were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports during the last year. This is an increase of 10.7 percent compared to the preceding Iranian year. Of this, 22.1 million tons were loaded and 2.9 million tons were unloaded,” the statistics said.
Last year, 691,000 tons of equipment, vehicles, and spare parts were loaded and unloaded at Iranian ports. This is an increase of 29.2 percent compared to the preceding year. So, about 129,000 tons were loaded and 562,000 tons were unloaded.
Also, 5.76 million tons of chemicals were loaded and unloaded at Iranian ports in the last Iranian year, which is an increase of 23.9 percent compared to the preceding year. Of this, 4.27 million tons were loaded and 1.49 million tons were unloaded.
Furthermore, 1.3 million tons of leather, clothing, fiber, paper, and wood materials were loaded and unloaded for the reporting period, which is an increase of 20.5 percent compared to the preceding year. So, 33,800 tons of goods were loaded and 1.27 million tons were unloaded.
About 8.36 million tons of small and assorted products were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports during the last Iranian year. The loaded/unloaded products increased by 17.6 percent compared to the preceding year. Of this, about 3.8 million tons were loaded and 4.55 million tons were unloaded.
According to the statistics, 24.5 million tons of container products were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports for the last year, which is an increase of 2.6 percent compared to the preceding year. About 10.7 million tons of container products were loaded and about 13.8 million tons were unloaded.
Moreover, 65.9 million tons of goods were exported and 36.4 million tons were imported through Iranian ports in the last Iranian year.
As well as, 3.15 million tons of cargo were loaded and 5 million tons were unloaded in Iranian ports for transit during the reporting period.
Over the last Iranian year, 9.15 million tons of cargo were loaded and 27.4 million tons were unloaded in Iranian ports for cabotage, as well as 1.66 million tons of cargo were loaded and 1.67 million tons were unloaded for transshipment.
“In addition, 147,000 tons of cargo were loaded and 1.15 million tons were unloaded at Iranian ports for other purposes in the last Iranian year,” the statistics said.
