Domestic cargo transportation via Iran’s airports up

BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 24. The volume of cargo transported through Iranian airports domestically increased by 5 percent, during the first month of the current Iranian year (March 21 through April 20, 2023), compared to the same month in the last year, Trend reports.

According to the data of Iran Airports and Air Navigation Company (IAC), in total, 25,395 tons of cargo were transported domestically through Iranian airports in the 1st month.

Meanwhile, in the same month of last Iranian year, the figure stood at over 24,174 tons.

Reportedly, in the 11-month statistics of the Iran Airports and Air Navigation Company, the volumes for the 1st and 2nd months are shown in different figures, and in the 12-month statistics, those figures have been changed.

Overall, 267,000 tons of cargo were transported through Iran’s airports domestically in the last Iranian year (March 21, 2022 through March 20, 2023). This is an increase of 15 percent compared to the preceding Iranian year (March 21, 2021 through March 20, 2022).

There are 54 active civil airports in Iran. Some 14 of them are international airports. An average of 30 million passengers are transported through Iranian airports per year.
