BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 15. The volume of cargo loaded and unloaded at Iran’s Imam Khomeini port in Khuzestan Province (south-western Iran), decreased by 1.5 percent in the 3rd month of the current Iranian year (May 22 through June 21, 2023), compared to the same month last year, Trend reports.
As reflected in the statistics of Iranian Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO), nearly 3.58 million tons of cargo were loaded and unloaded at the Imam Khomeini port in the 3rd month. Of this, 2.06 million tons were loaded and about 1.52 million tons were unloaded.
Also, 1.8 million tons of cargo were exported and 1.41 million tons were imported through the Imam Khomeini port over the reporting month.
At the same time, 203,000 tons of cargo were loaded at the port for transit.
Within the 3rd month, 51,700 tons of cargo were loaded and approximately 101,000 tons were unloaded at the port for cabotage.
Furthermore, 91tons of cargo were loaded and 200 tons were unloaded for other purposes.
Approximately 1.28 million tons of essential products, 165,000 tons of metal products, 432,000 tons of construction and mining materials and 318,000 tons of chemicals were loaded and unloaded at the Imam Khomeini port during the 3rd month of the current Iranian year.
Moreover, 31,400 tons of leather, clothing, fibers, paper and wood materials, 28,600 tons of container products, and approximately 1.33 million tons of crude oil and oil products were loaded and unloaded in this port within the mentioned month.
In total, about 13.2 million tons of cargo were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports in the 3rd month of the current Iranian year. Of that, 5.55 million tons were loaded and 7.64 million tons were unloaded. This is an increase of 9 percent compared to the same month in the last Iranian year.
