BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 20. Cargo transportation by all means of transport in Azerbaijan amounted to 109.2 million tons from January through June 2023, which is 6.4 percent higher compared to the same period in 2022, Trend reports.
According to the State Statistics Committee of Azerbaijan, 55.7 percent of all cargo was transported by road, 31.7 percent by pipeline, 8.4 percent by rail, 4.1 percent by sea, and 0.1 percent by air during the reporting period.
During this period, cargo transportation in the private sector increased by 5.1 percent compared to the period from January through June 2022. The share of this sector in the total volume of cargo transportation was 76.6 percent.
Passenger traffic in Azerbaijan exceeded 894.4 million people during the reporting period, which is 17.3 percent higher in comparison with the same period in 2022.
Most of the passengers (87.3 percent) were transported by motor transport, 12.2 percent by metro, and 0.5 percent by other means of transport.
