Volume of crude oil, petroleum products loaded/unloaded at Iran’s ports down

BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 16. The volume of crude oil and petroleum products loaded and unloaded at Iranian ports decreased by 3.1 percent in the 4th month of the current Iranian year (June 22 through July 22, 2023), compared to the same month in the last year, Trend reports.

As indicated in the data of the Iranian Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO), 4.4 million tons of crude oil and related products were loaded and unloaded at Iranian ports within the fourth month. Of that, 2.56 million tons were loaded and 1.8 million tons were unloaded.

In total, 12.1 million tons of cargo were loaded and unloaded at Iranian ports for the fourth month. This is a decrease of 1.6 percent compared to the same month last year. So, 6.95 million tons of cargo were loaded and 5.18 million tons were unloaded.

Circa 1.5 million tons of essential products were loaded and unloaded at the country’s ports within the mentioned month. Of that, 212,000 tons were loaded and 1.28 million tons were unloaded.

Furthermore, 656,000 metal products were loaded and unloaded at Iran’s ports over the fourth month. About 566,000 tons were loaded, and 90,500 tons were unloaded.

At the same time, 2.8 million tons of construction and mining materials were loaded and unloaded at Iranian ports during the reporting month. Some 2.48 million tons of them were loaded, and 320,000 tons were unloaded.

Over the fourth month, 66,000 tons of equipment, vehicles, and spare parts were loaded and unloaded at the country’s ports, of which 11,800 tons were loaded and 54,200 tons were unloaded.

Also, 279,000 tons of chemicals were loaded and unloaded at Iranian ports in the 4th month of the current Iranian year. So, 214,000 tons were loaded, and about 65,400 tons were unloaded.

In addition, approximately 106,000 tons of leather, clothing, fiber, paper, and wood materials were loaded and unloaded at Iranian ports over the fourth month. Of this, 789 tons were loaded, and approximately 105,000 tons were unloaded.

Some 62,900 tons of small and assorted products were loaded and unloaded at Iranian ports during the same month. Of that, 29,600 tons were loaded and 33,300 tons were unloaded.

In the fourth month, 2.26 million tons of container products were loaded and unloaded at the country’s ports. About 873,000 tons of container products were loaded and 1.39 million tons were unloaded for the reporting month.

Moreover, 6.32 million tons of cargo were exported and 2.7 million tons were imported through Iranian ports in the 4th month of the current Iranian year.

In addition, 366,000 tons of cargo were loaded and about 445,000 tons were unloaded at Iran’s ports for transit within the mentioned month.

During the 4th month, 162,000 tons of cargo were loaded and 1.83 million tons were unloaded in Iranian ports for cabotage, as well as 87,400 tons of cargo loaded and 105,000 tons unloaded for transshipment.

Meanwhile, 10,700 tons of cargo were loaded and 103,000 tons were unloaded at Iranian ports for other purposes.

Reportedly, the annual capacity of Iranian ports is currently more than 285 million tons. Iran is taking a number of steps to increase the capacity of its ports to 500 million tons per year.
