ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, February 20. Representatives of the Maritime and River Transport Agency of Turkmenistan (Turkmendenizderyayollary) and the Spanish Port of Valencia exchanged experience in issues related to port management, Trend reports.
According to the agency, this interaction was within the framework of a working visit to the port of Valencia by specialists of the 'Turkmendenizderyayollary' agency within the framework of the project "Application of the principles of 'green' ports and sustainability in the Caspian Sea region" of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE).
During the visit, the specialists got acquainted with the activities of the Port of Valencia to reduce CO2 emissions and switch to bioenergy (green energy) in accordance with modern international standards.
Also in this regard, they were familiarized with the analyses carried out in the country's seaports and pilot projects currently being implemented.
One of these pilot projects was data on tractors with trailers and reach stackers with a hydrogen engine, thanks to which no emissions are emitted into the atmosphere.
Meanwhile, within the framework of a project established between the OSCE and Turkmenistan, in the Caspian and Black Sea regions, agency specialists visited a number of seaports in European countries and got acquainted with best practices in the field of digitalization of port operations and the application of the principles of sustainable development.
One of the main objectives of the project is to consolidate efforts to promote the transformation of the Caspian Sea into a logistics center by facilitating trade and shipping.
