BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 26. The Azerbaijan Maritime Engineering & Construction LLC (AMEC), a private Azerbaijani company, expects to replenish its contract portfolio in the second half of 2024, especially for engineering works on maritime transportation and maritime infrastructure both in Azerbaijan itself and abroad, founder and head of AMEC, Rashad Shakarov in an interview told Trend.

"We have been operating since 2014 as the first Azerbaijani private maritime consulting and engineering company. Engineering works generate the main income for AMEC, we have a great experience in Azerbaijan and abroad in this profile, and we hope to activate such operations in the second half of 2024," Shakarov noted.

He mentioned that engineering works include design, construction and modification, assembly-disassembly of virtually any marine vehicle, calculations of stability of vessels on water, and so on.

Among the implemented design and engineering works, the head of AMEC mentioned reactivation of the helipad on the flagship crane ship Azerbaijan within the framework of modernization of this vessel (order from Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping Company (ASCO), modification of anchor vessels, tugboats.

"We also carried out a three-fold increase in the cargo capacity of the dry cargo ship Four Wind. On the west coast of India for the well-known Indian energy company Ratna MOPU, we did design a mobile offshore production drilling rig. Our portfolio also includes several contract works in the Middle East," Shakarov said.

Meanwhile, AMEC is the only purely Azerbaijani company in this service market and it is a worthy competitor to the core foreign companies.

"I worked in bp, and even then I had the idea to create exactly an Azerbaijani maritime consulting and engineering company. Having established AMEC in 2014, I studied the system of functioning of this industry in the UAE in more depth until 2017. Since 2017, we have been professionally and regularly carrying out relevant works with authorization from ASCO and reaching out to clients abroad," Shakarov added.
