Some 50,000 fry of carp were launched in the fish breeding basins of the newly-established fish farm in Baidibek district of the South Kazakhstan region.

Three breeding basins were built by a local entrepreneur on a land plot covering an area of 5 hectares, on the banks of the Shayan River, according to the South Kazakhstan administration.

The total capacity of the three basins is designed for 500,000 fish.

This is the third fish farm in the Baydibek district. In 2015, KazGoldFisht LLP launched 700,000 fry of wild carps and white, black cupids in the Dosan-Karabas reservoir. In addition, in May 2017 "Nur-Ay farm " built a special pool on the banks of the river Bogen and launched 8,000 fry of carp, white cupid and crucian.

The statistics shows that 70-80 percent of the fry launched into the reservoir survive.

The head of the South Kazakhstan region, Zhanseit Tuimebayev, earlier announced that all efforts will be made for the development of the fish industry in the region.

As of first quarter of 2017, 3 fish processing enterprises and 28 fish farms operate in the region. In 2016 they produced 5,213 tons of fish products.
