Kazakhstan's ruling National Democratic Party "Nur Otan" at the congress on Friday will consider its pre-election platform.

"The congress will consider the pre-election platform and approve the party's list of candidates for Mazhilis (lower chamber) of the Parliament of Kazakhstan", Nur Otan's first deputy chairman Nurlan Nigmatulin said Friday in the opening remarks at the congress in Astana's Independence Palace.

The pre-election platform of the NDP "Nur Otan", he said, keeps the "growth of welfare of Kazakhstan citizens" as the main objective, but "qualitatively reconsiders the way to achieve it given the current conditions."

The list of delegates to the Congress from the party's metropolitan branch is led by its leader, Nursultan Nazarbayev. It also includes the Prime Minister Karim Masimov, Defense Minister Adilbek Dzhaksybekov, Economic Development Minister Kairat Kelimbetov, Communications and Information Minister Askar Zhumagaliyev, akim (head of administration) of Astana Imangali Tasmagambetov, UN Deputy Secretary-General Kasymzhomart Tokaev.

At the last parliamentary elections in 2007 "Nur Otan" won all the seats in the lower house, as it was only party to overcome the 7 percent barrier.
