The policy being implemented by Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev ensures stability in the Central Asian region, Council of Europe Secretary General Jagland Turborn said after a meeting with Kazakh Constitutional Council Chairman Igor Rogov in Strasbourg, Kazinform reported.
"Kazakhstan plays an important role in the Central Asian region. The policy of President Nursultan Nazarbayev ensures stability in Central Asia and it is very important for peace in Europe," Mr Jagland said.
He noted the relations between Kazakhstan and Council of Europe are developing actively.
"We are working on implementation of joint action plan. Kazakhstan will become a full member of the Venice Commission in near future, which is an important part of this cooperation," Mr Jagland said.
