All regions of Kazakhstan will be provided with broadband internet access by the end of 2013, Minister of Transport and Communications of Kazakhstan Askar Zhumagaliyev said on Monday.
"It will be possible with the construction of broadband Internet access technology for FTTH", - said Zhumagaliyev, speaking at the governmental hour in Majilis (parliament).
According to him, the project provides 100% coverage of apartment buildings and private public space in the cities of Astana and Almaty, and in all regional centers, as well as connection to the FTTH network of corporate clients, including educational institutions, administrations, ministries and agencies, healthcare facilities, mobile operators.
"As a result of the 1st stage of the project in 2011 was built a network of fiber-optic subscriber access in Astana, Almaty, Semipalatinsk, Zhanaozen and regional centers," - said the Minister.
In addition, the installation of GPON equipment is completed and accepted into service in Astana, Almaty, Aktau, Aktobe, Atyrau, Karaganda, Kokshetau, Kostanay, Kyzylorda, Pavlodar, Petropavlovsk, Taldykorgan, Taraz, Uralsk, Ust-Kamenogorsk, Shymkent providing input capacity of 170 962 subscriber ports.
According to him, the period of implementation: 2011 - 2014.
In 2012, the provision of approximately 300 thousand subscribers planned.
