Project on strengthening statistics system launched in Kazakhstan

The Kazakh Statistics Agency and the World Bank have launched a new project Kazstat in Kazakhstan on Thursday. The project is aimed at enhancing the national statistics potential, in accordance with international methodology and practice, Kazinform reported.

The World Bank provided Kazakhstan with a $22 million loan on this project, head of the Kazakh Statistics Agency Alikhan Smailov said at the launching ceremony.

"Within the project we plan to put in practice the latest international standards, improve statistical techniques, introduce new information and communication technologies, attract foreign consultants and train our professionals abroad to improve human capacity in the nearest 4.5 years," Smailov said.
