Some 105 houses were flooded, 61 people were evacuated and seven rescued from the flood in Kazakh city of Zhezkazgan in Karaganda region, Kazinform reported with reference to the Kazakh Emergency Situations Ministry.
A 36-year-old woman and 5-year-old boy, whose bodies were found in the garage, died as a result of the flood. According to preliminary version, they were killed by electric shock.
The houses were flooded on Sept.29 at about 20:00. An operative headquarters was created to resolve the situation. The population is heated and provided with meal. The work on strengthening of the upper Kalensay drainage channel has been completed. The water was pumped out. Some 128 people and 53 pieces of equipment are involved in elimination of emergency situation.
