The Russian Accounts Chamber and Kazakh Accounts Committee have agreed to conduct joint inspections within the Customs Union and joint projects in the energy sector, chairman of the Russian Accounts Chamber Sergey Stepashin said at a briefing in Astana.
"We have agreed upon the implementation of new joint projects and in particular, on the work efficiency within the Customs Union and in the energy sector, where we have a lot of joint energy projects. There are a lot of interpenetrating aspects that also need to be addressed for the effective use of budget funds. Our Kyrgyz colleagues also intend to join this joint inspection," Stepashin said.
He referred to the first joint inspection of the Russian Accounts Chamber and the Kazakh Audit Committee which was held on the activity of government agencies in the forested border areas.
"We already have experience of joint inspections. Previously, we conducted joint audits together with Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan and Iran. The inspection was regarding the Caspian Sea, namely the problem on the depletion of the lake's fish reserves and conservation of this unique lake's environment," he said.
He said currently the Russia's Accounts Chamber is conducting a joint audit together with colleagues from Belarus and the Baltic states.
