Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev will pay a state visit to Saudi Arabia in late 2014, the Senate (Upper House) of the Parliament said Sept. 25.

"Speaker of the Senate Kassym-Jomart Tokayev met with the chairman of the advisory board of Saudi Arabia Abdullah Al ash-Sheikh in Astana," a statement said.

While greeting the guest, Tokayev said that Kazakhstan considers Saudi Arabia an important political and economic partner in the Middle East and the Islamic world and is interested in promoting a dialogue in all areas.

"Of course, President Nazarbayev's upcoming state visit to Saudi Arabia this year will contribute to the strengthening of cooperation in all areas," Tokayev said.

The sides stood for further development of contacts between parliamentarians on a bilateral basis and as part of the inter-parliamentary organizations.

Tokayev thanked the custodian of the two holy places King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz for his constant support for the activity of the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions and invited ash-Sheikh to participate in the next forum, to be held on June 10-11, 2015.
