Kazakhstan has ratified the agreement on the creation of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAU).

Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev signed the corresponding law, the presidency said on Oct. 14.

The Eurasian Economic Union, also known as the Eurasian Union, is an economic union which is planned to be established by a treaty signed in May 2014 between the leaders of Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Russia. The Union will officially go into effect on 1 January 2015.

The common market of the future Eurasian Economic Union will include 170 million people.
