Kazakh railways will launch 14 additional intercity trains during the EXPO-2017 titled "Future Energy" in Astana, Kazakh Investment and Development Ministry said in a message.
New trains will be launched from Astana to the cities of Shymkent, Mangyshlak, Atyrau and Uralsk; and to Astana from the cities of Shymkent, Mangyshlak, Uralsk, Kostanay, Dzhambul, Almaty, Karaganda, Kokshetau and Atbasar.
The number of train routes from and to Astana rail station will increase from 44 to 58 as a result.
According to the ministry, it is forecasted that the number of passengers arriving to Astana from the regions to attend the international exhibition Expo-2017 will increase to almost 1.856 million, including 935,271 people coming by rail.
The World's Fair EXPO exhibition has been held since 1851.
The exhibition will be held for the first time in Astana, Kazakhstan in 2017. The EXPO-2017 will last from June 10 until September 10. Over 100 countries and about 20 international organizations have already confirmed their participation in the exhibition.
