The National Bank of Kazakhstan (NBK) has placed government securities worth 484.7 billion tenge at par since early 2021, Chairman of the NBK Yerbolat Dossayev said, Trend reports citing the Kazakh media.
“The collected bids topped the announced supply volume by almost 4.3 times. Consequently, the market participation in government securities auctions amounted to 100 percent, while in 2020 this figure was 32.7 percent,” Dossayev said at a governmental meeting.
According to the NBK chairman, investments of international investors in government securities in February 2021 reached a record volume - 700 billion tenge, including the government securities of the country’s Ministry of Finance increased from 1 billion tenge to 198 billion tenge by early 2020.
“Following the growth in demand, the yield of government securities since the beginning of the year has decreased along the entire curve by an average of 50 basis points. The growth of participation in government securities auctions on the part of local and international investors contributes to the construction of an effective yield curve, improvement of liquidity in the government securities market and a decrease in the cost of borrowing,” Dossayev added.
