BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 27. Kazakhstan reduced coal imports by almost a quarter in February 2022 compared to the same period of last year, Trend reports citing Kazakh Committee on Statistics.
Coal production in Kazakhstan amounted to 9.6 million tons in February 2022, which is 15.4 percent more than in February 2021, and 1.8 percent more than in January 2022.
According to committee, coal production in Kazakhstan in 1Q2022 amounted to 19.08 million tons, which is 3.9 percent more than same period last year.
Kazakhstan imported 32,800 tons of coal in February 2022, which is 23 percent less than in February 2021 and 25.2 percent less than in January 2022.
Coal imports in Kazakhstan amounted to 76,600 tons from January through February 2022, which is 0.9 percent more than in the same period last year.
Kazakhstan exported 2.5 million tons of coal in February 2022, which is 49.2 percent more than in February 2021, but five percent less than in January 2021.
Export of coal in 1Q2022 amounted to 5.3 million tons, which is 54.5 percent more than the same period last year.
Total of 7.07 million tons of coal were sold on local market of Kazakhstan in February 2022, which is 6.6 percent more than in February 2021 and 4.4 percent more than in January 2021.
