BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 6. Uzbekistan increased the import of food products from Kazakhstan by 1.5 times in the first quarter of this year,Trend reports via Uzbek State Statistics Committee.
According to the committee, from January through March, 2022 Kazakhstan with a share of 37.8 percent of total imports retains the first place in the list of the main countries supplying food products to Uzbekistan.
The purchase of Kazakh products increased from $200.1 million to $309.7 million compared to the same period last year.
During this period, imports of wheat from Kazakhstan increased from $138 million to $201.6 million, wheat flour - from $17.3 million to $28.1 million, margarine and mixed fat - from $0.87 million to $15.9 million, meat - from $3.1 million to $11.8 million, barley - from $1.3 million to $6.7 million.
The top five importers of food products to Uzbekistan also included Russia - 25.1 percent (of total imports), Brazil - 11.9 percent, Belarus - 4.2 percent, and Pakistan – 4 percent.
