BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 14. Around 1.4 billion Kazakh tenge (around $3 million) will be allocated for the reconstruction of the Aktobe combined heat and power (CHP) plant, Trend reports, citing Kazakh media.

Some 900 million Kazakh tenge ($1.9 million) will be allocated for major repairs.

Meanwhile, around 516 million Kazakh tenge ($1.1 million) will be allocated for the maintenance of the plant.

Currently, the plant is replacing technologically obsolete equipment, including the gas turbine unit. Upon the completion of the work, an additional 50 percent more electrical capacity will become available, which would increase the output from 118 MW to 175 MW.

The Kazakh government will carry out the modernization of several CHP plants around the country in 2023, due to their age and accumulated wear and tear.

The Aktobe CHP plant started its operations in 1943.
